You seem to be comparing apples to oranges in this paragraph. Isn't it more relevant to compare GNU-bg evaluations with XG evaluations? True, XG allows a human to play against an opponent using its mini-rollout settings but that doesn't translate to strength of engine, which I assume is what you are more concerned with.

As I said before I don't plan on doing any extensive comparisons, I just wanted to run some Q&D tests and rolled out the two greatest discrepancies just to see out of curiosity.

The gnubg team have the "Depreli Bot Comparison" files so if they want to run the New GNUbg through those or run their own tests then that's up to them
