Impressive yes indeed.

But as you say, apples and oranges.

In mens golf, it is not as easy to be competitive at a young age, as it is in womens golf. The top male golfers are simply stronger, and boys do not develop as fast physically as girls do (at 12-14 girls are much closer to their final strength than boys are). I suppose for that reason, the same is true in almost all other sports - tennis is an obvious comparable sport.

And it shows in the record books: for male golfers, Guan broke the record yesterday, by being the youngest ever to simply play in a major - at 14 years old. The youngest ever to make the cut, is (funny enough) his 19 year old playing partner of yesterday, who made the cut 3 years ago at 16!
