Earlier today, I had trouble with the third of three updates on my laptop that still runs Vista, so I hit the Off switch and forced it to give up wherever it was that it stalled out. Then when I restarted ("normal" restart), it installed the update in seconds (always amazing with Vista and only 4 gig of RAM) and now it's happy again. Maybe it was just a coincidence, and these two updates are unrelated, but if anyone else still has Vista you might try just whacking the Off switch, then restarting, if today's update snarls up on you.
