I am also having trouble understanding your point.
Before we pitted the bots against one another, our knowledge was anything but definitive. We had two competing answers, and had no idea which was better .
When bot A whips bot B, we have learned that either: (1) it is a better bot than B or (2) that it understands this specific position better than B.
In either case, this information is useful: indeed if we had to bet (and let's say we had to bet something very substantial, like our lives), we would bet on A's play. This means to me, and forgive me if the terminology sounds too metaphysical, that we now have a more definitive solution than we had before.
You ask if "the prop results tell us something "more definitive" about the position itself (in italics) than a Bot A rollout would" and add that it doesn't seem that way to you. I am not sure what the italics mean (mathematical truth?), but I think I agree. Still, the fact that the competition between the two bots has taught you to trust A's rollout in preference to B's is anything but trivial.
