And playing it out, I realize that I screwed it up even more.

1) Blue doesn't have to hit both checkers this roll to win a gammon - if he hits one, then he gets a chance to hit a second one whenever white dances. So the gammon rate is much higher.

2) If Blue holds, he doesn't turn the cube after a single hit. It's TG when white dances, which happens 70% of the time.

Of course, these observations tilt the decision even further towards cubing. Why is the causing such a furor? I don't get it.
