Your two problems here are nice ones. Sorry I didn't get around to looking at them before you posted the rollout.

OTB, I would probably have played 15/13 8/2 as you did. I believe that the idea behind 8/6 instead of 15/13 is not to safety the 8pt blot but to provide better outfield coverage. Since we're behind in the race we'd like to contain White's straggler. We have a stronger board and White's midpoint is stripped so getting hit on the 15pt is not as bad as it looks; we'll typically get a lot of return shots. But I think the main point is that we'll get a lot more shots at White if she tries to run, and we have improved chances of making an outfield point or hitting White loose if she doesn't run.
