It is (cubeless/full) especially important at the score when opp. has free drop I guess, otherwise not as imp. as this one?

A similar thing can happen at almost any score: You have cube access and roll something well which brings you close to or into the opponent's drop zone. Then if you have different playing choices, you often choose a static, low-volatility play even if it's worse cubelessly than a more volatile choice. You don't want to allow your opponent to joker back to an easy take, while if he rolls badly all you will have achieved is a huge market loss.
