Congrats to Sabri and to all who competed. It is clear that Turkish players are emerging. After centuries of playing without the doubling cube, more and more are learning to play tournament backgammon and are playing at a very high level. I have and have had several Turkish students, and they are all passionate and diligent and not afraid to really dig deep into the logic of the game to understand it well.

I think we would all like to know more about Sabri and the event. Was the finals recorded, and how did they play? Is Sabri a true world class player? Where did he learn to play? Are there excellent books that have been translated to Turkish, or do the top players read and understand English and other languages? Does Sabri use XG? (All of my Turkish students use both XG and Opening Ceremony).
