Since I’m not sure here what might be best, I would start by playing three dice to make the 4pt and 5pt. After that, I would decide whether to lift the remaining blot from the 7pt or 8pt.
For the purpose of attack, a blot on the 7pt covers more territory. It targets the open 1pt, as well as the other inside points. A blot on the 7pt, however, is subject to more return shots (43, 52, and 61) than a blot on the 8pt.
For the purpose of containment, a blot on the 8pt is better. When the opponent’s roll totals 7, he will run out to the bar point, leaving a double shot. When Yellow leaves his blot on the 7pt instead, and the opponent rolls an 8 (53 or 62), Yellow will only have a single shot at the escaping checker.
I’ll opt for fewer shots and better containment.
