I would definitely send a second checker back with 24/23*. Then I have to decide whether two checkers closed out is enough or whether I should hang back to try to pick up a third. If gammons counted, I'd definitely try for 3; at DMP it probably doesn't make much difference, but I'll hang back - I'd need to roll consecutive 11s to be in trouble.
