I agree that any play that includes 11 is not great: Even if we are not hit, we don't have many rolls that make a new point: The 5 point beeing the one we really want. Even if we then make the 5 point next roll with that builder we left on the 11 point, we still can get in trouble next roll if one of our other blots are hit. Even then if we are not hit we might scramble to get our blots to safety..

13/8 could be right: Less risk than any play involving stopping on the 11 point, and 3-1 now makes the 5 point whitout breaking a point.

The other plays to be considered are moving with the back men. I prefer24/22, 17/14 since i stops on the 22 point which is less valuable for my opponent than the 21 point. However you might be right that keeping the back checkers conncted might be usefull. My play is 24/22, 17/14.
