3% is a lot at DMP. I was rather sure of my choice, since I had something similar a while back and missplayed it by hitting. A main point here is that after coming out, White really still is in a world of hurt with a checker on the roof vs a 5 pt board and a broken 5 prime to contain him if he enters and, another blot that is still exposed even after quite a few entering numbers.
Note also that with checker play according to score, both plays win a bit more often since a bit fewer games are lost trying for gammons.
