Stick rolled 12 pips, which hurts his timing quite a bit. His chances of containing a checker are pretty bad.

Also, getting hit in the outfield isn't quite as bad as leaving the blot on the ace, in my estimate.

Anyway, the plays are all trading wins for gammons, I think. The question is the right balance of wins for the right number of gammons. Pretty sure running around is clearly right at DMP, whereas hitting loose on the ace would have been clearly right at GG.
