If gammons didn't matter I'd play 6/1 6/4 in a heartbeat, but that can't be right here.

If the 5pt was closed, I'd play 8/3 5/3 pretty quickly too.

Here however I can't help but wonder if the proper response is take it off. 66 followed by hit is ugly, but you get compensation with five checkers off. 55 is the crying shame of course.

I'll play safe still, but because of QF I can't help but think I'm wrong. It's just that the gammon looks too easy, so really, how many more gammons can you get for the dangerous play?
