I'm kind of just guessing here. I don't understand exactly how WINE (the software upon which Crossover is based) works but I wouldn't be surprised if some of the the libraries it uses aren't as efficient as the corresponding ones in Windows. In video games the designers usually make the program adapt its settings to something that will produce an acceptable output for the user. Doing rollouts it's all just raw computation so there can be no adapting -- you have to rely on the quality of the program and the underlying libraries. Also the visual quirks I reported were accompanied by performance issues which tells me the program is using up more resources in Linux relative to what it would do in Windows. All that said, I do not have Windows installed anywhere so I can't actually check it out for sure. So I'm guessing slower but would have no idea how much (if at all).
