Mini Rant Because I Can

A hekkuvalotta inferences here that I guess I have to clarify, because your post might give an impression I meant a hekkuvalotta stuff I didn't:
Bible: Inspired of God, written by men and women. Inspired by perfection, executed with imperfection. A living document, rightly subject to progressive interpretation as we ourselves progress.
Huckabee: The "traction" of his campaign says more about the weakness of the GOP field of candidates than it does about the desire of the voters for a strict Baptist leader in the White House. Don't worry, folks, he won't win the nom. And I don't have to worry either, because the guy I was most afraid of was Giuliani. He's on life support at this point, with Florida quite possibly about to pull the plug. (Anybody else see any irony there?) We can survive four years of McCain or Romney.
Evolution: No idea why this chestnut keeps popping. The vast majority of Christians agree with St. Augustine (354-430 a.d.) who said that God could have used already created things in the production of more of same. He also thought it was self-evident the "days" of Genesis were epochs, not 24-hour periods. The dividing issue is the "randomness" question, and perhaps some quibbles about the facile argument that adaptation and microevolution can be extended as proof for macroevolution. They can't, but that doesn't mean we will never adequately explain macroevolution. We have a lot left to learn and discover!
And yes, atheism is a serious enough matter to deserve better argumentation than the current crop of bestsellers give it. disclaimer: I've only read three chapters of Hitchens, including the one on Mormonism because I was interested in learning more about what Romney believes. I'm left wondering now, not what, but why he believes it.
Love, peace, and joy to all.
