All Time Bad Beat

Sure, the 2-1 and doublet sequence is nothing special; however, the gravity of the situation is what enhances the significance. Only the 2-1 allowed the recube to 8. The 8-cube made it a single roll for the match for both players. The winner advanced to the final of the Charlotte ABT Championship Division Tourney.
I'm sure there are many other similar situations.
Another one that immediately comes to my mind is the Ed O'Laughlin loss in the Super Jackpot Final in Monte Carlo last year. Ed was down 13-14 Crawford but appeared to have won a gammon for the match. Difference in first and second place was something like 20,000 euros. Ed had only two guys remaining in the bear-off on his two point and the opponent with one on Ed's ace point and a decent but not great home board -- and, of course, with a lot of checkers spread out around the board. Well, typically, Ed rolled 1-x, had to leave the shot, and was hit.
But, the killer was that not only did he lose his gammon which would have given him the Championship, but he lost the game and the match. With fourteen checkers off. Again, it happens occasionally. But in a major money final? That is a bad beat.
