Recube against a few checkers off?!

"I suspect that at this point, white must pass any recube. However, the goal here is for blue to get to the recube window, so that white can take. So, technically ND / Pass. Give it a few shakes, lets see if white can somehow get into a taking position."
This logic doesn't make sense to me. There are no gammons from here--your maximum equity at this point is 1 (times the 2 on the cube). If you think this is a pass, shouldn't you double now? Are you waiting because you hope your opponent will make a bad take? If you roll a few times and white has a valid take, that's only because your equity is less than 1, which is bad if you could've gotten a pass earlier. There are probably some match score considerations, but even so, I don't think you can have ND/Pass in this situation unless you think your opponent will err.
I think the other (much-more-skilled-than-me) folks are right that it is a ND, but not because white can't take now. I think it's because the good sequences for you only help you a bit (and get you to a D/T or a cash), but the bad sequences for you are quite bad, and you don't want white to have the cube at that point.
Anyone explaining why I'm way off base is appreciated...
