After this play we are 20 pips ahead in the race. If we make our 5 pt, we may be attacked and or more severely blocked in the upcoming couple of rolls. We really don't want to play anything resembling a prime vs prime with our 2 pt made and a 20 pip lead.

Stick's 5 pt is very important for any of his game plans and we can counteract that by making his 21 pt NOW !! Then if we roll a big dub to run around we have a virtual claimer. We can't be badly blocked on his 21 pt and we retain our builders on the 8 and 9 pts for a later turn. If he hits the 8 shot we get returns from the roof.

The cube is centered and I will PLAY TO WIN. This means that if I am unsure which play is better cubeless, I make the play that wins the most total games as long as there's nothing unusual going on with cubeful gammon costs/values.

I think we win more total games by making the 21 pt and that it is more likely to be the best cubeless play so here the 21 pt is my clear close.
