I think 24/18(2) moves the defense too far forward -- he's a single double from effectively being completely home free. I like the second line of defense provided by the ace point. And the timing is obviously great for an extended ace point game.

Personally, I like 21/18(2) and 13/7. 21/18(2) provides defensive coverage to the outfield complicating his safetying of the three remaining checkers. I choose 13/7 over 10/4 in case I get the early shot(s) after his next roll -- I'd as soon not have the inside blot when the bar point blot is just as effective. I can make the bar later if required but I also add another builder for ultimately making the four point when I can.
