The split (24/23) seems obvious. Only 8 checkers in the zone and puts pressure on White's 5pt and so on. After that there are three good options.

13/8 is obvious and safe and I would be surprised if it isn't best or very close. But because of White's unorthodox play a couple of other options deserve consideration.

8/3*. Hit and start a good point, not a great point, but a good one. Also duplicates White's 3s (except 33 which is killer). Two things I don't like is that it gives White a lot of chances to hit back and strips the 8pt which hinders making another point.

6/1*. A hit but that checker will probably be abandoned by Blue for a while unless blitz opportunities materialize. It does duplicate White's 1s (and here the 11 doesn't hurt so bad as the 33 above). The nice thing is that it keeps the 6 and 8 points with spare checkers to facilitate making good home points. I prefer 6/1* over 8/3*.

At some match scores the extra gammons from 6/1* might make it best otherwise 13/8 probably is the slight favorite.
