hitting and covering both seem important in this position...the 3 dupe forces us to choose one of these.....covering the 5 point forces the 4 to the 14 point which doesn't help our race and offers white the chance to hit, cover (maybee both), or run.....if blue hits with the 3 then the we have a very nice 4 that puts 2 of whites checkers on the bar which : takes back a lot of racing equity , reduces return shots from the bar (as opposed to not hitting twice), creates more gammons, puts two of whites checkers on the bar , and it also starts to bring our back checker forward while we take the race lead......santa is in town:))))
