Interesting. So the loose hit isn't a blunder.

As a first step towards understanding the position, note that there is a tradeoff between wins and gammons going on. It seems that hitting wins more gammons but doesn't win as many games. Whenever there's a tradeoff like that, it usually indicates a subtle decision.

Since Blue's board is strong, he can apparently get away with hitting loose because of the extra gammons. But getting hit back will be costly.

As for the value of 13/10, bringing down another checker is the best way to support a blitz without sacrificing your priming equity.
