I have another strategy that prevents my opponent from doubling which I have used successfully many times. I make a bad enough play to fool the idiot I am playing into thinking he is too good to double. Then later when I turn the game around I get a huge laugh at his expense.

This clever ploy has cost me a fortune over the years but I've had a couple of really good laughs.
