Whereas one would usually expect that cubeful equity be higher than cubeless equity when one has access to the cube?

Yes, but not necessarily, when cubeful you will be cashing many games in which you would have won many cubeless gammons. There was another position for which someone (Neil?) posted a rollout recently in which with a centered cube, cubeless equity was much higher than cubeful. But I can't recall offhand which position it was, or which forum it was in.

Of course, in that other position, the side on roll was actually the favorite, and more likely to benefit from making the initial double. Here, the backgame player is the game favorite. Cube vig goes his way. So it's not unusual that the other player's equity drops, cubeful.
