"1a2aPC and 2a1aPC aren't the same as 2a2a or DMP because there is still cube action possible, which can affect checkerplay."
Couldn't we apply a similar argument to 2a2a being different from DMP? It appears to me that 2a2a is a gammongo/gammongo situation until the cube is turned, whereas at DMP, gammon wins and gammon losses have no bearing on checkerplay decisions. Am I misunderstanding something?
I would describe 1a2aPC as gammon-save/gammon-go until the cube is turned. The cube is likely to be turned during the 2nd or 3rd roll, which is typically sooner than the cube is turned at 2a2a. That suggests to me that 1a2aPC, 2a1aPC is more like DMP than is 2a2a.
I'm really putting in a effort to understand the openings, and it's important to me to have the best possible understanding of these concepts. Any help is greatly appreciated.
