I would describe 2a2a to be more like DMP than 1a2aPC/2a1aPC. At 2a2a (in theory) the cube *will* be turned and *taken*, but when your opponent can use his free drop to cherry pick the positions he likes, the resulting (now dmp) game when he takes represents only a subset of the 2a2a or initial DMP situations.
