New Issue of USBGF PrimeTime Backgammon Magazine: Why limit circulation of the print edition?

Bill says: "If you want one of these collector's quality printed copies do not hesitate to order one now through the USBGF BG Shop or by contacting Mochy (for Japan Open sales) or Arda (for Cyprus MERIT Open sales); additional copies will not be printed."

I must be missing something.

Backgammon is in decline. The USBGF is trying to promote backgammon. Instead of *limiting* the number of "collector's quality" magazines, shouldn't the USBG be in the business of attempting to grow the circulation of the print edition of the magazine?

My sense is that no matter how much of a "collector's edition" this is, people want to buy it to read it to learn about backgammon and about what is going on in the backgammon world, not to speculate on it increasing in value like the first edition of Superman.

I bet there are many people who prefer the printed copy of the magazine to the online copy (I am one of them).

Not knowing the costs and effort involved, I can only wonder (and guess) whether it may make sense for the USBGF to focus the marketing of the magazine as a stand-alone product instead of as a side-kick to the online edition, which itself is tied to USBGF membership.
