We appreciate your interest and the points you make, Leo.

The magazine was conceived and designed as a digital product; however, you are correct that some people prefer the hard copy rather than the digital copy -- I know I do.

Printing the magazine in a very high quality manner (80# gloss pages, and 100# gloss cover) is extremely expensive in relatively small quantities. There is also a minimum number of copies required by the printer -- so, we cannot simply get five more if we need them.

We do sell annual subscriptions and print a limited number for sale at tournaments and in the BG Shop, etc. We do not try to make the magazine scarce and, thus, valuable -- though at times that may be an unintended consequence; we only wish to not be 'stuck' with excess inventory. So, we make the best estimate we can based on subscriptions, on our experience with prior issues, and in our subjective evaluation of how 'popular' an issue might be.

This new issue has more of an international flavor with the World Championship coverage -- and has the very popular Akiko Yazawa on the cover. We printed twice as many of this issue in comparison to any prior issue -- but it is still a modest number. To enhance the USBGF exposure in the international market, and to meet the anticipated demand from Akiko's popularity, we have made arrangements for some of the magazines to be available at the Japan Open and the Cyprus MERIT Open.

We are always open to ideas and suggestions. The professionalism of the magazine and the popularity of the printed copies are points of pride for us. We do think they are a great resource for the membership and also can be for the greater backgammon community. We wish the circulation was greater -- however, the marketing, promotion, printing, and fulfillment issues are significant for a relatively small staff.
