24/20(2) facilitates much of the escape of blue's back checkers, and provides some coverage of white's outfield. This takes away white's relative immunity to dump her checkers from uncomfortable dice into her outfield.

8/4(2) builds our board one step further, maintians our midpoint, maintains outfield coverage on our side of the board, and keeps further pressure on white when she has to play a bad roll of the dice. White has little flexibity here, and blotting rolls are quite likely, increasing blue's benefit in makeing his 4 pt.

The stack on blue's 6pt is a concern. Making the 4pt gives blue an additional location to dump checkers off the stack, and also threatens white's anchor should white be tempted to break.
