I definitely spring the runner here. 8/1 may make a fourth homeboard point, but covering the blot on the ace is much lower priority than springing the runner.

If you don't hit you should be able to coast to victory on a 20 pip lead, while wending him back risks being hit right away plus the additional annoyance of having another checker to get by. With the bar point anchor, I'm not seeing many gammons so hitting seems to help white more than hurt.

That said, "always hit" is right a lot more than most people give it credit for.

I'm going to scoot by without hitting. Not sure it's right.
