Even if you don't care about Nactation, the tutorial provides many interesting early game decisions.

Right! There are 93 positions in the Nactation Tutorial. Each one is like a backgammon problem. If you flip the pages, and give your move for each position before reading the text, you will have a very inexpensive (i.e., free) backgammon book.

The text explains what the best move is in each position, and then gives Nactations for the top move and one or more alternatives. An appendix gives rollout data for every position.
