Version. I've been using version 16 for months and it doesn't seem any less stable than version 15. They both crash sometimes for unknown reasons. The playing strengths are the same.
Analysis. Supremo checker and world class cube. Sometimes I also look at 3-ply analysis, usually for bearing-in checker play and holding game cubes. If I were more patient, I might use 4-ply analysis for checker play. Someone here or at GU (Mislav?) swears by it.
Rollouts. 98% of mine these days are 2-ply (narrow 0-ply filter, no 1-ply filter)/2-ply cube, no truncation. I used to use 0-ply checker play a lot, when I was playing often and rolling out a lot. Truncated rollouts, or rollouts with 0-ply cube, I don't want to see, not even just for me.
Playing against Gnubg. 2-ply/2-ply. Or 0-ply/2-ply cube, for a slightly faster and easier game. 0-ply cube, never. It's awful (yeah, still expert, but awful). Why not 3-ply checker play? I don't know. It might be better, but not much. It's slower. Just keep in mind that 2-ply and 3-ply quite often make different plays (for instance 2-ply plays 64 24/18 13/9 at DMP).
