OTB, I would probably not even consider making the 5pt. For one thing, the 8pt still has major blocking value. Switching to the 5pt merely trades one asset for another. There is also the matter of volunteering direct shots at two blots, with a third blot nearby.

Perhaps the slot, j = 11/5 9/6, which offers only 12 shots, is the way to go.
