Cube action

Difficult. Well, I was on the receiving end of a cube here.

I'm a long way down in the race, I lead in the match, I am on the bar, Neil has a 5pt board, and I may never enter. I'm on the bar, and I may never enter, I have a match lead, and a large race deficit. Oh, and its a 5pt board.

The duplication is intentional.

So, other aspects of this, in order to win, I have to hit and contain. I also have to enter, and not slowly either. My board is incomplete, and is short on zone-builders for that 5pt, its harder to make it early, but critical to the long game to make it somehow.

Then there's my opponent to consider. He's going to play it well, there will be no freebies (never expect those from other players, but they occasionally come). He has a skill advantage over me (I accept it), and I need to make a good decision on this. Additionally, if its not a take, and I take it, I am just demonstrating to the world how much of a fish I am. If it is a take and I drop it, I will be teaching the world how to scare me into submission. These are just consequences, however, its positions like these that have been problems for me in the past.

So, long story short. Am I taking vs Neil? Am I taking vs someone else? My gammons feel like they are painful, and I may lose a lot of them. I am not able to estimate my gammon losses (average) on this position. I don't have that skill, and my numbers may be way off. I don't even remember where I settled in my head OTB - although after seeing the result, I do recall thinking that it was lower than I estimated.
