At 8a8a, white can win the match if black takes the recube and white wins a gammon. Black has one on the bar, has missed re-entering that checker, and has 3 more vulnerable blots. White has 11 in the zone. If white rolls a 6 or double 3's, white will have lost his market and will surely be too good to double.
Is white too good, already? Does white want to forego those gammons by offering the cube now? Does black have a take?
OTB, if I was playing a much stronger player, I would cube now, hope for a take, and hope to get lucky enough to win the match. Playing against an equal or weaker player, I would hold the cube and go for gammon.
As a beginner with the cube (typical GNU rating = awful), I'm hoping for feedback to clarify my many misconceptions regarding use of the cube.
