I've only heard of Gotz Hildsberg and he's had a hell of a run over the last year or two. He's won 2-3 big tourneys in Europe last year and won one of the overall standings championships for some big bucks.

He's beaten, among others, Gus Hansen, Falafel, and Karsten Bredahl in this Nordic Open.

I put him on my 32 Giants ballot based on his performance over the last two years.

And he's apparently continuing the great run.

He finished second in Cannes last summer but his first round match against David Todd was unbelieveable. David was up 15-14/17 and the next game had really just begun when he cubes David out of left field. David raised his eyebrows and took the cube. I wrote down the Hildsberg next 11 rolls at the time but have misplaced it now. But he rolled 8 sets of doubles (including like 3-6's, 2-5's, and 2-4's) in the next 11 rolls and gammoned David for the match with David having never been hit. David was still muttering hours later and continued to do so all weekend as the guy marched to the final. He lost to Lyllhof in the final.

Now I know that particular cube was not indicative of great play, or a great player, but the guy's performance over the last two years has been phenomenol.
