about those doubles

Phil, it's a little like trying to explain to your girlfriend why she shouldn't be upset after finding you in the shower with her sister. It doesn't matter how good your story is, she is not going to buy it. Some people hold a strong belief in the excessive luck of their opponents, and their own lack of luck. That is just natural human behaviour. Personally, it says to me that my opponent is distracted by a non-issue, and hopefully that gives me some small advantage in the match.
If the bot analysis on luck is to be taken at face value, then luck becomes a bigger factor as the skill level of the players increases. When I win, the bot reports that I gained much more in MWC through luck, than through my opponent's errors, and when I lose, I gave up much more MWC in luck than through my own errors. When I lose, I take comfort in those situations where I outplayed my opponent in checkerplay and cube play, or when I played above my usual level. When I win, my jubilation is tempered by the knowledge that I simply had better dice than my opponent. It is a rare match where the difference in skill level is greater than the difference in luck (as reported by the bot).
Let 'em whine, and hopefully they'll steam, and make a few blunders.
