I've recorded innumerable matches now and have had very little trouble distinguishing the dice regardless of color or size. I use both 1/2" and 9/16" of various colors without problems. My 1/2" black and white opaque dice may seem slightly better and I like the increased action one gets with the smaller dice. The translucent dice of various colors work fine also. Occasionally, depending on the lighting angles, etc. you may get glare on a die making it indistinguishable but typically you can tell by the move what the roll is -- as it is most unusual not to be able to read both dice.
