Slotting the nine point looks thematic - if they leap out they are forced to hit and we recirculate and maybe pick up a homeboard blot. So, that's my play for a 5 or an 8. With the current roll, it's not possible to slot the nine.

17/8 gives us two builders to whack a blot if white rolls a six. 17/11 5/2 and 14/10 5/2gives us two builders to slot the nine next roll. And I'm just now noticing the "obvious" play or making the eleven, which seems to offer nothing.

I think I like 17/11 5/2 - if white shakes a six, either we get a direct or she hits (and we get a direct from the bar) Of course 66 is a joker no matter what.
