Filling the gap is often correct when you start our with you 3pt. In the early game, grabbing a three-point board is usually worth the risk of a direct shot.

P (Point) = 8/5 6/5

Nactation: In the Point family, all dice in a roll are dedicated to making exactly one new point. No spares are allowed on the new point. Two checkers can move to make a point, or one checker can move to cover a blot. It's okay to give up one point to make another.
