22N = N is for Near. The move is divided between the two near side quadrants (from the perspective of the player making the move).

Half of the move is played to the outer board (usually from the midpoint). The other half is played entirely in the inner board.

For 22N, 33N, 44N, and 55N, a player brings two checkers down and uses two inside spares to make a new point.

11N is the only N play that brings no checkers down. (eg. 64R-11N)
