I saw some videos from the latest tournament in Monte Carlo where the box was used.

The baffle boxes are great for preventing cocked dice, rolling dice off board etc. Personally I don't find it as much fun using them but I can see that it can speed things up and it's still fun, just not as much, probably just from habit.

But for watching a tournament on TV or Internet it has two flaws in my opinion.

1. It takes the place of a clock so you can't see time. Part of the interest is seeing how much time each player has.

2. Dice always roll on the same side, so the viewer may not know whose move it is. Even the commentator got mixed up I noticed.

Then there is the issue of one player just rolling on the board from habit, I think in the final one player rolled 43 and it was a good roll for him, his opponent and apparently no one else including the commentators noticed.
