1. 5 pnt. The cost: a) 3 blots instead of 1. If white hits blot(s) on 8 & 9 pnts, with actual white's priming potential, blue has good chances..to be primed with 2,3 & even more chckrs back. b) after white easily reaches the anchor on blue's bar point - blue's priming pressure decreases, c) the possibility to lose in timing, being ahead in the race, increases. 3 weakenings - for the cost of making 5 pnt? Don't think so :) 2. 13/10,13/9. After this the only liability is the rare one. Possible continuations: a) The rare escapes safely & white does not hit it in the outfield (no mention about 66, but should keep in mind this great roll too :-)) Even if white makes his bar - the rare has some chances to escape. b) The rare well blocked by white , even after hitting in the outfield, & cannot escape - but blue also has good chances for counterplay on his side, with the spares on 9 & 10, against white's blot on 1 pnt (& even possible blot on bar point). Of course, its nice if blue stays on the midpoint, to be connected with the rare - but if white hits blots on 8 & 9 & prime - the midpoint won't help ;-) 13/9,13/10
