Cool beans, a deceptively juicy position to restart my Stick-OLM play with.

For clarification, it is juicy today, the deception lies with it seeming to be routinely boring.

I see as candidates: bar/21, bar/24 13/10, bar/22 6/5, and bar/22 24/23. Which is about as much as one could hope for considering the limited actual options.

By the way, the opening 5 plays for both players are huge, something Agent Stick is no doubt highly aware, but which I'll add en passant.

I'll start with lucky's move, 6/5. It duplicates 4's and fights old school style for the 5pt, which is worthy. Duplication for duping's sake sucks though, but if nothing else is good, then this move rocks.

bar/21 fights for the silver anchor, which in the absence of any offensive progress by the Stickster makes me yawn at best, and scares me with double-hitness at worst. Yucko.

bar/24 13/10 seems ugly at first since it only single covers the bar point blot. However this puppy fights on both sides of the board, which thanks to the magic of avoiding overkill means it is a good thing.

By avoiding overkill, consider going from 90x kickass to multiplying another 90% kickassness to your 90x. Now you are 99x kickass, woo hoo! On the other hand, consider you are 50x kickass on the other side of the board, and you multiply that by an extra 90%, now you are 90x kickass, for a gain of 40x instead of 9x. In other words, turning a great half of the board into an excellent half of the board isn't nearly as good as turning a so-so half of the baord into a great half of the board. In short, playing in two quadrants is better than one in general.

Which brings me to the rare obscure fun move, bar/22 24/23. Normally one isn't supposed to move the last checker from the 24pt if the other checker is still lurking around. However, here the Stickster has stripped his 8pt. This means that advancing that 24pt puppy puts a hurt on Agent Stick if he hits us somewhere from his 8pt (61 or 41 perhaps). It also makes double hits from the Stickster less joyous from his point of view.

Bar 2/22 24/23 for me, call it an official vote. Second choice is a tossup between lucky's pure 6/5 and the safer but less lucrative 13/10.
