I have virtually no idea what you’re talking about in your kissass paragraph.
I was half in the bag when I wrote it, not the best time to be writing anything, especially in public. :x
Imagine you roll 22 early in the game, and that 6/4(2) is not an option (perhaps you rolled 42 last turn). You can play 6/2(2), or 24/20(2), or 13/9(2), or 24/22(2) 13/11(2).
Moving from the 22pt to the 20pt is a gain, but it comes in an area you are already strong in, without leveraging that gain. (An example of leveraging a gain would be if you had made you 5pt and decided to make the 4pt too, thus strengthening the power of your 5 and 6 and 8 points).
Moving from the 11pt to the 9pt is a gain, and it helps leverage the 4, 6 and 8 points, but being on the 11pt also did that in a way too, and thus the gain isn't huge.
But moving both 13/11(2) and 24/22(2) are huge gains. For 13/11(2) you are unstacking while making a valuable outfield watchdog and builder for the 5 and 7. For 24/22(2) you are making an advanced anchor which is also a huge gain since it decimates your opponents ability to prime you, and hurts his ability to safely blot in his side of the outfield.
Soooooooooo, my point I was trying to make was that in backgammon, you either should try to leverage existing assets (building a prime for example, or building inner points after making the 2pt), or you should usually play in two different undeveloped quadrants since the gains are bigger in undeveloped areas than in playing something like shifting an anchor from the 22 to the 24.
I don't have access to my post since am replying to yours (and I am too lazy to open another window and look at it. However if memory serves, I was pointing out (or trying to) that 6/5 was likely a better use of the 1 than 22/21 because the advance from the 22pt was really only a little gain in an area of the board where we already were pretty strong, while 6/5 is a huge gain because it adds value in an area of the board where we are really weak.
Whether that makes sense or not I don't know. Lol. 6/5 also is much more vulnerable than 22/21, so the gains may be more than balanced out by the losses.
Anyway, I still like 24/23 here now that I am sober. It looks to face fewer bad problems than 22/21. 13/10 looks good, but in this position if we use the 3 in Stick's board we get to leverage our asset/liability on his bar point, so I suspect it is better.
