OTB and RO

OTB I took a look at the board differential noticing both my opp's stack and my lack of containment should I hit him, and decided that I was not hopeless in the race and ran both. XG says this is only a small error, but when analysed from the practical sense that my opp has only 32 seconds on his clock, I made a bad decision since by running I am lots more likely to turn this game into a no thought game.
After I ran, my opp rolled 54 and I became certain that I'd blown my 64 play.
Maybe he could've played 54 correctly in time pressure or maybe not?!
Certainly most opps wouldn't want 20 or more seconds to run off the clock had I played 22/12 and they rolled 54. We are only human and most of us don't want to get close to timing out.
After running both I rolled small several times and lost the race by a mile.
