I'm not sure I would have found 6/5 3/off OTB, but given the QF, it seemed clear to me that if you were going to bear one and blot, then blotting on the 6pt would be the way to go. I don't think that it contains the player better to leave an interior blot, because the shot jeopardy outweighs the opponent's big rolls. 6/5 leads to the fastest bearoff so it's the "natural" play. If you leave an interior blot then there's a good chance you'll slow yourself down later trying to cover the blot instead of getting on with the business of bearing checkers off. (Not to mention the practical issue that blotting inside will probably lead to more difficult checkers plays for yourself down the road than blotting on the 6pt.)
