I don't use PRAT any more, at least not consciously, but I remember it being a pretty useful tool for me back when I didn't have as many cube positions stored in my brain. Of course, just like any other rule, it should not be applied in a wooden or procrustean fashion. The idea is to remind yourself to check three basic features of the position and decide whether your combined advantage in the three areas is "enough". What "enough" means will then be honed by experience.
