I made a not so related but related joke in this post. It was meant purely as a joke though.
Falafel is an American. He has dual citizenship. (I think both of these are true but someone can correct me if I'm wrong) He has played a lot in the past in the US and around obviously also around the world. The country he has played the most backgammon in though I'm going to guess is the US? He has lived for years and years sometimes on and off. I believe he currently resides here. It is true that the Giants list identifies him as being from Israel I'm not sure whose choice that is or if it really matters in relation to this event.
I'm fine with Falafel playing on whatever team Falafel wants. I don't see it as a big deal. Whatever fits best for the event works for me. He doesn't have to throw down and declare where his loyalty lies like the two countries he identifies with are going to war.
It's certainly hard to argue against anyone on the US team being replaced by another player but it is note worthy a couple people at least who are not on the team. I don't know if they were asked and didn't want to or couldn't or simply weren't approached at all. Specifically I'm speaking of Kit and Malcolm, assuming they're both going to the tournament. I was going to wait until I got to the tournament, see who showed up, and see if I could put together a team of 5 of us remaining chumps who could have easily competed in this event. I wasn't approached at all I'm sure because of my past rampant, sordid, and ignominious cheating.
